G. I. Joe:Retaliation

02 Apr

Gi JoeG.I. Joe Retaliation is the sequel to the first G.I. Joe movie Rise of the Cobra. This one features Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson and Bruce Willis. It features lots of implausible, impossible, over the  top action  sequences and a really super zip line sequence thru what looks like theTibetan mountainside  or some such oriental  country. The members  of Cobra  a highly dangerous terror group is sprung from their confinement  of suspended animation in a U.S. prison whereupon they proceed to kidnap the president  of the United States and replace him with an exact duplicate. The fake president proceeds to summon all the leaders of the world to the U.N. and has them release their nuclear missiles in the air where at his command his henchmen proceed to destroy them via sattelite above the earth thus leaving him with sole power over the world., “I want it all,” the president says  sadistically laughing. As a show of strength the imposter president proceesds to destroy London  via the laser satelite.

Enter Dwayne Johnson as Roadblock the leader of the G.I.Joes who brings out a retired  general played by Bruce Willis. The Joe’s capture one of the cobra gang and use him to go against his own people. Willis show them his cache collection of weaponry in every drawer, closet and wall panel which they engage. After some great exploisions, car chases and action sequences the real president is restored and the film leaves it open for another sequel already planned.

Before the film a trailer was shown for a new Jaime Fox film called White House down where Washington is again attacked by terrorists and blown apart. This is the third film in a few weeks featuring Washington being overrun by terrorists  which makes me wonder does Hollywood have a death wish that this would really happen?

Dwayne Johnson, Morgan Freeman and Bruce Willis must be the hardest working actors in Hollywood today as they seem to be in every movie out now. G.I. Joe Retaliation is agood ,fun movie to check out.

Check out these great trailers below from it.:)

Since this is not ‘my’ kind of entertainment, I’m can’t comment….action films that rely on so many special effects & big names just have no appeal, but then I don’t understand or demostrate much of a ‘macho man’ image, guess that’s normal for grey headed old ladies…

That’s Ok Jan.No problem. My wife likes these syrupy romantic movies so we offset each other I go to the Twilight movies with her and she goes to these with me and she likes some action stars. W bote the Expendables movies where Stallone, Willis and Arnold all poke fun of themselves with a good storyline too.
