As first reported by Bloomberg’s Josh Rogin, a group of 47 Republican senators signed a letter addressed to “the leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” warning them not to be too optimistic about ongoing negotiations with the Obama administration over Tehran’s nuclear program. It was organized by freshman Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) and advised the Iranian leadership that “anything not approved by Congress is a mere executive agreement.”
I have become increasingly disgusted with my party, the republican party as I am disgusted with the dem party. We elected them to office to stop Obama and what do they do? The first thing is they funded Obamacare for another year after campaigning to repeal it.Then they funded amnesty for him after campaigning to not fund it. Now they write this letter to the Ayatollah Khamenei in Iran warning him against the deal with the dems. While the letter may have been with good intentions I feel they should have left it alone. They should have known the Iranians would use it as a propaganda ploy which he is doing. Khamenei is playing both sides against the middle. On the other hand the dems should not give them any deal and continue with harsher sanctions. They should know these people will stop at nothing to get the bomb and blow Isreal off the map and attack us too like they have sworn to. They shouldn’t believe them when they say their nuclear ambitions are for purely economic reasons. They are not going to abide by any deal.
Iran’s Supreme Leader hit out on Thursday at a letter by U.S. Republican senators threatening to undo any nuclear deal between Washington and Tehran, saying he was worried because the United States was known for “backstabbing”, Mehr news agency reported.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the ultimate authority on all Iranian matters of state, added at a meeting with President Hassan Rouhani and senior clerics that whenever negotiators made progress, the Americans became “harsher, tougher and coarser”.
The letter signed by 47 Republican senators warned Iran that any nuclear deal made with U.S. President Barack Obama, a Democrat, could last only as long as he remained in office – an unusual intervention into U.S. foreign policy-making.
The White House has described the letter as “reckless” and “irresponsible,” saying it interfered with efforts by six major powers to negotiate with Iran on a deal to prevent it from building a nuclear bomb.
Mehr quoted Khamenei as saying: “Of course I am worried, because the other side is known for opacity, deceit and backstabbing.
I can fully understand Congress’ intentions as they have a right to worry with the muslim Obama in charge ,but I still think they shouldn’t have done this as it makes matters worse. Here are a few very intelligent comments that may help you decide if you are as confused about his deal as I am. I report, you decide. 😉
Kerry and the dems didn’t seem to mind when Pelosi lead a delegation of congress people to Syria during the Bush administration. Amazing double standard these idiots have. Iran is lead by a lunatic who isn’t interested in anything that might keep them from making an atomic bomb. Given this administration’s record of achievements, wouldn’t be surprised to see this fail too.
Obama would never want to betray his beloved Muslim brothers. Just look at how he sat on his hands while ISIS took over the middle east… and then squandered all gains from Iraq and Afghanistan. He has destroyed our foreign policy. He has ruined our country.
Stateside, Obama has crippled our economy. Everybody I know is either out of work or under-employed. And our expenses keep rising. Please, Obama! Don’t try to socialize ANYTHING ELSE!
With everything Obama touches now in shambles, Barry needs a new hobby. When is he going to wake up? When is America and the rest of the world going to wake up? Islamic extremists need to be eliminated… and for that to happen in the west, Islam needs to be confined to the Middle East.
Iran lecturing America on “deceptions” is hysterical. Iran hasn’t lived up to ANY of their previous agreements.
The Senators did not say they would reverse the Obama-Iran deal…they said that any deal “not passed by the house and senate” could be reversed by the next president…Dem or Rep. The point being made was this: “If Obama makes a deal that the country (USA) does not feel works in its best interest, the senate and house will not pass it into law, and any deal not made into law is subject to reversal.” It was a warning to Iran that the details of the deal would be reviewed by someone other than Obama, so it had better make muster or risk eventual reversal.
