The State of the Union Lies and Republican Response

 As George Will said about Obama’s SOTU speech, ”It was tepid and full of liberalism which shows he’s running out of steam.” He was also combative and divisive. His plans were a rehash of previous year’s plans. He talked about solar power, creating jobs, teachers, and the rest of his usual laundry list. He said every four minutes another house goes solar. I find that hard to believe. That’s even one for Ripley. He blamed the republicans for his troubles naturally and called for everyone to get together as long as it was his way, his words not mine. He said the deficit was cut in half when it isn’t since he’s spent more than all the presidents combined. He sited the virtues of Obamacare saying three million people have already signed up. The trouble with that statistic is they are counting the people who have just looked at it and not the ones who have actually paid yet. He showed a woman in the audience who lost her job and insurance and now had coverage since she signed up for it. Never mind the five million who lost their plans and doctors because of Obamcare. I wonder if the woman in the audience has her doctor in Obama’s plan and knows what’s covered and what’s not and can she afford the deductible. Obama called on congress “to get behind it  and  forget about putting 40 votes out there to repeal it.” Never mind the fact that most of the country doesn’t want it as well as doctors.

Obama called for a universal increase in the minimum wage to $10.10 an hour as part of his income inequality speech and in true dictatorial attitude said if congress didn’t abide by his wishes he would go it alone and use his executive orders to pass it as well as any other item that stands in his way. This sounds good, but is impractical. Such a large increase would cause massive layoffs in small businesses and would be counter to creating jobs. As one commenter to an article so aptly put it, “The minimum wage, like Obamacare is a prime example of getting the complete opposite results in fact of what Socialism offers in promise. Socialism by definition is redistribution of wealth to create a classless society of equality. When you have a business with a break even profitability income stream budgeted wage structure of $145/hour to be redistributed among 20 employees at $7.25 and the government vote buying thugs step in and force you to pay your employees $10.10/ per hour you are forced to cut your staff down to 14.35 employees in order to remain profitable or else you go out of business.

Obama chastised those who criticized him for lifting sanctions on Iran saying to give diplomacy a chance and that since they lifted sanctions Iran hasn’t produced anymore fueling rods or proceeded with their nuclear program. The thing is that when we had the sanctions in place they were still proceeding with their nukes and now that they are lifted they will still proceed. Obama is of the old naieve liberal belief that if you’re nice to them, they’ll be nice to you.  Diplomacy doesn’t work with terrorists. It’s either their way or the hiway and they’re all willing to die for Allah for their cause. In previous speeches Obama said Al Queda is on the run and Osama is dead. Now he says  they  have evolved in other countries. He took credit for ending the Iraq war and winding down Afghanistan. However, since we pulled out of Iraq Al Queda has taken over a good portion of it and maintaining their base there for future attacks on us and whoever else they want to hold a strong arm over. The same goes for Iran. Obama said he’s holding a small contingent in Afghanistan to help train Afghanistan troops there. Obama also stressed our support for a Palestinian state and our strong support for Isreal. The problem here is that these two are opposing forces and Obama has snubbed Isreal several times and still opposes them. I have always said and it was true last night, to understand Obama listen to what he says and then think the opposite because that’s just what he does. He rouses up the people with pro American speeches then puts in anti-American policies. 

Obama gave a rousing speech supporting our troops and praising our military while at the same time he’s cutting their benefits, didn’t send in protection to  our people in Benghazi when he should have and purged nine generals and is now allowing an absurd ruling that says troops can wear turbans, have beards and long hair if it is their religious belief. See what I mean by saying  one thing and doing the opposite? 

Obama also went back to saying this year he would close GITMO. He said that at the beginning of his tenure and since decided against it. Now he’s back to it again. We will see what happens since 63% of the American people say he is not to be believed and untrustworthy.

Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) told reporters point-blank: “The world is literally about to blow up and our president did not really paint a fair picture of the threats we face.”Graham, a member of the Senate Arms Services Committee, said he wanted Obama to tell the American public during his annual address how he intends to resolve the conflict in Syria and questioned whether the administration’s negotiations with Iranians over their nuclear program would be productive.

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) didn’t think much of President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address (aside form his support for wounded warriors), but she was especially dismissive of his appeal for women to get equal pay. That’s just so over, Bachmann argued.“Frankly, a lot of what we heard were 40-year-old prescriptions and 40-year-old bromides. I mean really, equal pay for equal work?” Bachmann said. “I mean, this was something in the 1970s people were talking about. So I think we’ve addressed that.”I know what she means, but most economists estimate that women earn about 77 percent of what their male counterparts earn. Since Obama talked about equal pay for equal work for women he should start in his own house where he pays women less than what their male counterparts make.

I actually had more enjoyment and it was refreshing seeing the republican counter speech by Cathy McMorris Rogers who said “So we hope the President will join us in a year of real action – by empowering people – not making their lives harder with unprecedented spending, higher taxes, and fewer jobs.” She is an attractive and fashionable lady who was very personal and straightforward and not an ego driven phony, and combatant and divisive like Obama.  She said that more people stopped looking for work than found jobs and the republicans have plans to close that gap. “The President talks a lot about income inequality. But the real gap we face today is one of opportunity inequality…And with this Administration’s policies, that gap has become far too wide. We see this gap growing every single day. We see it in our neighbors who are struggling to find jobs…A husband who’s now working just part-time…A child who drops out of college because she can’t afford tuition…Or parents who are outliving their life’s savings.Last month, more Americans stopped looking for a job than found one. Too many people are falling further and further behind because, right now, the President’s policies are making people’s lives harder. Republicans have plans to close the gap…Plans that focus on jobs first without more spending, government bailouts, and red tape”

I noticed when Obama finished his speech he left the podium rather quickly saying God Bless America as he was leaving. Did he realize he went too long or was he just glad to get out of there?

Bob Grant,The Father of Talk Radio-R.I. P.

         

                       

A few weeks ago Bob Grant, the proclaimed ‘Father of Talk Radio”, passed away at age 84. On Jan 2, 2014  Rush Limbaugh said: “He was legendary. He was courageous, confrontational. He was all of those adjectives, and he was funny. He was also a nice guy.”

I used to listen to Bob while growing up. And always got a kick out of his confrontational style and telling liberals off. If a liberal annoyed him he would say to them very bluntly like a dagger thru their heart, “Get off my phone you jerk” or  “You’re a fake, phony,fraud, get off my phone.” He had his share of critics too who took pride in calling him racist because of his strong truth telling comments, but he was no racist. He had lots of friends in the black community who called him and appeared on his show. One time he even talked a person out of suicide until police arrived. Bob had been in broadcasting at least 50 years if not more starting at a young age. He had a stellar career and paved the way for such die hard luminary giants today such as Sean Hannity, Mark Levin and Rush Limbaugh all who credit Bob as their influence. It was Bob who gave Guardian Angels head, Curtis Sliwa his start in radio too.

Bob had his share of regulars too I always enjoyed hearing. There was “Jimmy from Brooklyn” who saw communists under every rock and infiltrated communist front groups and their meetings and reported back to Bob. There was “Carl from Oyster Bay” who always had inside information about the Clintons and what the government was planning and which always came true. Carl later went on to write for Newsmax. There was “The Don”, a fellow who called often in a Marlon Brando Godfather voice and told Bob “if you ever need us, just give us a call and me and the boys will be there to take care of business with bells on.” He would then say a few words to Bob in Italian and Bob would reply in Italian. There was the immortal,incomprable, “Frank from Queens” who would go on long soliloquys on the topics of the day so descriptive and emotional and then hang up. Everyone in the control room would gather around Bob and listen to Frank. Some  callers even asked if there was any way they could get copies of his calls and Bob said,  “No,he was just a caller.” I,of course, did mange to tape some of Frank’s calls. I even called in and became a regular under the moniker “Jim from Paramus.” At first I was reluctant and nervous as I knew how Bob could get if he didn’t like you or even the sound of your voice so I had to be careful. His screeners were very nice in putting you at ease and I was always straight forward and to the point. I recorded all my calls with Bob and still have them. My favorite call was a 20 minute call where he played the Gennifer Flowers tapes for me and we commented on them. He ended our call by saying, “This man Bill Clinton, was not fit, is not fit now and never will be fit to be president of the United States.” He always referred to Clinton as “Slick Willy.” I even had the chance to meet Bob at a book signing in Paramus at a Barnes and Noble and told him who I was and he gave me a handshake and a big smile and signed  his book for me.

The thing that always amazed me about Bob was his incredible recall of any historical date in history. He would say things like “On Tuesday, April 22nd of that year this happened” or  “On Thursday Oct.16th of that year that  thing happened.” It was truly remarkable to hear him recall dates like that giving the exact day,month and year.

Bob’s biggest turmoil came when Clinton Commerce secretary Ron Brown died in the plane crash. Bob was the first to comment on it and said, “I heard there is a survivor and that survivor is Ron Brown, but at heart I’m a pessimist.” Well that’s all the libs needed to here. They stormed his show with calls of racism and boycotted advertisers until the station was forced to fire Bob. This hit Bob real hard and he became depressed for a while.  His buddies all gathered round him and his conservative black buddies all gave him consoling bear hugs. Sean Hannity had Bob on his TV how and told him, “Don’t worry Bob, we’ll get you back on the air.”

Bob landed a job at WOR and stayed there for a few years. He eventually made it back to WABC on week-ends from 12-2 p.m. where he stayed until just last year. R.I.P. Bob your legacy will live on. Bob is survived by his wife and four grown kids (two boys and two girls) and grand kids.

Hope and Change Gives Way to Doom and Gloom

To understand Obama and what he’s done to our beloved country, you have to understand his idol and mentor Saul Alinsky. Saul David Alinsky (January 30, 1909 – June 12, 1972) was an American community organizer and writer. He is generally considered to be the founder of modern community organizing. He is often noted for his book Rules for Radicals.

In the course of nearly four decades of political organizing, Alinsky received much criticism, but also gained praise from many public figures. His organizing skills were focused on improving the living conditions of poor communities across North America. In the 1950s, he began turning his attention to improving conditions in the African-Americanghettos, beginning with Chicago’s and later traveling to other ghettos in California, Michigan, New York City, and a dozen other “trouble spots”.

His ideas were adapted in the 1960s by some U.S. college students and other young counterculture-era organizers, who used them as part of their strategies for organizing on campus and beyond.^[5] Time magazine once wrote that “American democracy is being altered by Alinsky’s ideas,” and conservative author William F. Buckley said he was “very close to being an organizational genius.”^[4]

He even taught courses in it and is applying them to his tenure in office to change America. Saul Alinsky was a brilliant man. Evil, but brilliant. This thirteenth rule is the most commonly used rule today by the left and Obama himself.

There are 8 levels of control that must be obtained before you are able to create a social state,

Read the following recipe for it taken from Alinsky’s book who Obama follows:

“The first is the most  important”.

1) Healthcare – Control healthcare and you control the  people.
 

2) Poverty – Increase the Poverty level as high as possible, poor people are easier to control and will not fight back if you are providing  everything for them to live.

 
3) Debt – Increase the debt to an unsustainable level. That way you are able to increase taxes, and this will  produce more poverty.
 
4) Gun Control – Remove the ability to defend themselves from the Government. That way you are able to create a police  state. 
 
5) Welfare – Take control of every aspect (food, housing, income) of their lives because that will make them fully dependent on the government.

 
6) Education – Take control of what  people read and listen to and take control of what children learn in  school.
 
7) Religion – Remove the belief in God from the Government and schools because the people need to believe in ONLY the government knowing what is best for the people.
 
8) Class Warfare – Divide the people into the wealthy and the poor.  Eliminate the middle class.  This will cause more discontent and it will be easier to tax the  wealthy with the support of the poor

 How was that for a definition of how to create a social state, sound familiar??

 “Obamacare” = “To insure the uninsured we first make the insured uninsured and then make them pay more to be insured again so the original uninsured can be insured for free.” Currently millions have lost their doctors and health insurance and it is projected to be 100 million or a third of the population

Look at the state we are in now as compared to 2009 according to Breitbart .com

1)    In 2009 Obama had a 68% approval rating. Today in 2014 he has a 39% approval rating.

 2)    In 2009 the national debt was 10 trillion. Today it is 17.3 trillion and climbing. Obama has added more than all the presidents combined.

3)    In 2009 the poverty rate was 13.2 %.Today it is 15% with 46.5 million in poverty.

4)    In 2009 the median household income was $55,939.Today it is $52,163.

5)    In 2009 32 million people were on food stamps. Today 47.4 million people are on food stamps.

 The biggest problem with a socialist government is the failure of people to produce.

Here are seven devastating economic facts:

1)    91.8 million people are no longer in the workforce. That’s almost a third of the country.

2)    The number of jobless is up 9.6 million since 2009

3)    47.4 million on food stamps

4)    10.9 million receive disability

5)    One in three Americans fell in poverty from 2009  to 2011.

6)    42% say they are worse  off now than last year.

7)    The U.S. debt is now 17 trillion and climbing. In 2009 Obama called a 9 trillion debt under Bush as “unpatriotic” and look where it is now under him.

With all this going on what is the mainstream media obsessed with? Not Benghazi where our ambassador and three other Americans died that could have been prevented, not Fast and Furious with sending hundreds of guns to drug lords and kidnappers and murderers that killed our border guards, not the NSA spying on all of us (200 million text messages a day they receive),not the IRS targeting groups, not  the economy.  No the mainstream media is focused and obsessed with the governor of the little state of N.J and his traffic jam which should be a local matter and not  a national one. Yes “Hope and Change” has given way to “Doom and Gloom.” What a sad statement on the current state of affairs. Will the Eagle/Phoenix ever rise from the ashes?

So begins one of my favorite shows on TV now which is CBS’s Person of Interest. It is  produced by Christopher Nolan and J.J. Abrams. In a recent interview they said they based it on the government’s  Prism program and revelations by Edwin Snowden.

The show has had a “pervasive sense of paranoia” from the start, said his fellow producer, Greg Plageman.

“We’ve always said, if we do our job, at the end of every episode you should be looking at your cell phone a little bit differently on the table,” Plageman said.

The general premise is as follows from Wikepedia:

In the beginning, John Reese, a former Green Beret and CIAfield officer, is living as a vagrant in New York City after the death of the woman he loves, and is presumed dead. He is approached by Harold Finch, a reclusive billionaire software genius who is living under an assumed identity. This was the basic idea of the Patriot Act under Bush,but now that Obama is in it is the Patriot Act on steroids  with Obama being the perpetrator on our civil liberties and us the victims. Oh John and Harold we need you now.

The NSA sees everything and takes in everything, our e-mails, phone calls and they admitted they steal 250 million text messages a day. There are cameras everywhere that the government and regular hackers and public can hack into and see all,even in your own computer..

Obama gave a speech saying he didn’t know the extent of the surveillance. YEAH RIGHT!!!! And proposed moderate changes in the NSA system, but experts said they dont expect that to change anything, Changes by President Barack Obama to how information collected by the National Security Agency is handled won’t quell concerns about violations of civil liberties, say local intelligence experts who differ on the effect the changes may have on national security.

The changes, laid out during a speech at the Department of Justice, came in the wake of uproar about once-secret NSA data collection programs made public by leaks from former NSA contractor Eric Snowden. And they come at a time when the ability to collect data is developing far more rapidly then the ability to fully understand the legal and moral ramifications of what to do with that information.

One expert contacted by the Tribune called the proposals “a good first step” while another termed it “window dressing.” A retired Army intelligence officer expressed concern that some of the changes could weaken national security.

Yes, cameras everywhere, government collecting all our data, we are truly living in a police state. Obama has said if congress doesn’t go along with him he will resort to executive orders, “I have the pen and I have the phone,” he recently stated.   Total disregard for our constitution which he called an outdated document. He has become the dictator in chief.

On his radio show on Friday Rush Limbaugh noted that the flags in back of Obama when he gave his NSA speech were bigger than usual, “This is what they do in third world countries ruled by dictators,” Rush said, “It’s all symbolism.”

Recently singer and actress Cher stated that “Obama, let us down.” No Cher. Obama didn’t  let you down. You and your left wing pals in the arts and media were so consumed by your hatred for Bush and so blinded and naieve to what Obama was about you failed to heed the warning signs that were all there right in front of your nose. You were so blinded and hypnotized by “yes we can” and “Hope and Change” and “the first black president” that we now have what we got. Well Cher I hope you like living in the U. S. S. of A. The United Socialist States of America and be prepared to share your wealth.

Christy Shows Class Yet Again!

         

Gov. Chris Christy yet again showed what a classy and stand-up guy he is with his state of the state address on Tuesday. He started out with stating that mistakes were clearly made and mentioned about people who let the state down who were dismissed. “The last week has certainly tested this administration. Mistakes were clearly made. And as a result, we let down the people we are entrusted to serve. I know our citizens deserve better. Much better,” he said. “I’m the governor and I’m ultimately responsible for all that happens on my watch — both good and bad. Now without a doubt we will cooperate with all appropriate inquiries to ensure this breach of trust does not happen again.”

“But I also want to assure the people of New Jersey today that what has occurred does not define us or our state,” he added. “This administration and this legislature will not allow the work that needs to be done to improve the people’s lives in New Jersey to be delayed. I am the leader of this state and its people and I stand here today proud to be both. And always determined to do better.”  He said.

That’s ten times more classy and up front than anything Obama and Hillary would say or do, but the lamestream media draws the wagons around them every time because they all identify with them and not republicans.

I live near the bridge and have been across it many times. I’ve driven across it, walked across it and rode busses across it. The bridge has two sections.  An upper section and a lower section. One time the upper section was closed for repairs and everyone had to use the lower section and vice versa and traffic was always backed up for days and even weeks. So people were inconvienced  for a few days. So what? Big deal. This happens lots of times there. There are  also  bogus traffic jams. Does all this mean all those bogus traffic sites the people of New Jersey get stuck in will now be investigated? How many times have the people of New Jersey seen cones and traffic, but nobody working? I know I have. You can rest assured if bogus traffic jams were set up by Democrats in New York or New Jersey nobody would care.

The press is all gaga over the GWB scandal calling for investigations and special prosecutors. I wish they had been equally outraged over the deaths of four Americans in Libya which could have been prevented, the selling of guns to drug dealers, kidnappers, murderers and cartels in Mexico that killed our border guards, and the IRS targeting conservative groups and the expensive failure of Obamacare. At least nobody died in Bridgegate. Their hypocrisy knows no bounds.

All Christie had to say at his press conference was, “ As someone recently stated,  ‘What difference does it make?’ ” That would have stopped those left wing reporters from salivating or if Christie learned anything from Obama he could have said these: “If you like your traffic pattern you can keep your traffic pattern. Period.” or “A rogue agent in the Fort Lee office re-directed the traffic.” which is similiar to what he said and proabably was true. Like I said in my previous blog, the mayor of Fort Lee accepted Christie’s apology and  said that nobody contacted him about  endorsing Christie. It should have ended there.

 

 

Media Attack On Christie; Distraction from Gates’ Book

Chris Christy was ahead of Hilary in the polls by two points and getting stronger. Former Sec. of Defense Robert Gates comes out with a book slamming Obama and Hillary and Biden saying their opposition to the war surge was purely for political reasons and Obama didn’t trust his own strategy by sending 30,000 troops to Afghanistan while being against it.  So what’s a poor lib dem to do? The state controlled liberal left wing media attacks Christie with a small time incident and blows it up like an atom bomb to destroy him and turn the populace against him.

The U.S. attorney in New Jersey is opening an inquiry into claims that public officials orchestrated the massive traffic snarl on the busy George Washington Bridge to settle a political score — and has asked the FBI to help.

The probe announcement came Thursday as Gov. Chris Christie, a possible Republican White House contender, spent the day addressing the brewing scandal over his staff’s role in orchestrating the traffic jam after a local mayor declined to endorse Christie’s re-election bid.

U.S. Attorney Paul Fishman, whose job Christie held before being elected governor, has opened a probe into the decision to close the bridge lanes, his spokeswoman said.

 I believe Christie did the right thing. He immediately came out and took responsibility, fired the two people involved and stayed with the press conference as long as was needed answering questions. He did the same thing during  hurricane Sandy too. Compare that to Obama who should have  fired people like Eric Holder for sending thousands of guns to drug dealers, murderers and kidnappers in Fast and Furious and then covered it up or in Benghazi when Obama was nowhere to be found and sent Susan Rice out to five news shows to say the riots were cause by this little known film which it wasn’t and Obama had the director thrown in jail for a year. People died in Fast and Furious and Benghazi. Never forget these words ‘Obama lied and people died.” At least nobody died  under the Bridgegate fiasco and being from New Jersey myself, traffic is always horrible on that bridge daily during the morning and evening rush hours and sometimes worse than was reported now. Even if Christie did know about it which I think he didn’t, so what??? Former Bush PressSecretary Dana Perino recently said on The Five TV show on FOX that when she was  in office with Bush there are people underneath the leaders with massive egos who do things behind the president’s back. I believe that’s what happened here with Christie.

The media tried blaming the death of a 90 year old woman who died before paramedics could get  to  her on the traffic jam, but her daughter denied that was the cause. The mayor of Fort Lee accepted Christie’s apology and said nobody contacted him about supporting Christie much to the dismay of the liberal lamestream media.

 Some people are taking to suing Christie now for various reasons. One woman said she suffered a panic attack from being stuck in that traffic and was late for work so she’s suing Christie. Notice she waits until now to sue. How rediculous. I have friends who work in the city and take that bridge everyday and are late often and their companies understand the traffic problem and are OK with them being late. I agree with the two comments below:

 What a sorry commentary on society today. When anything happens let’s sue and see if we can hit the law suit lottery. What silliness. What’s next, suing the weatherman because it rained on our picnic?

So, I wonder how it will work out so that the taxpayer ends up paying for these “civil lawsuits”.

 Several republican senators are asking Christie to step down which is typical of republicans. The late, but great talk show host Bob Grant, the father of talk radio, once said ,”Republicans can take a lesson from their dem counterparts. No matter how lowdown, sleazy, dirty and dishonest their guy is they will always stick by him. Republicans are quick to turn against their guy.” And so it is here.

 On the 50th anniversary of LBJ’s war on poverty Obama announced his plan to fund 20 communities with private sector programs to create jobs. It is said that poverty rates have fallen from close to 26 percent down to 16 percent since 1967. I don’t see how that can be when poverty has risen under Obama. Now 1 in 6 people are in poverty and the number of people on food stamps has increased from 48 million under Bush to 50 million under Obama.

“In the richest nation on Earth, far too many children are still born into poverty, far too few have a fair shot to escape it, and Americans of all races and backgrounds experience wages and incomes that aren’t rising,” Obama said in a statement marking the anniversary of Johnson’s pledge. He first spoke about the plan in his 2013 State of the Union speech, almost a year ago, pledging to focus government funding with private sector programs in 20 communities to create jobs, improve schools, beef up public safety, and create better housing……….I have always said that these actors and actresses are great in their craft and should stick to it rather than make political comments because as soon as they open their mouths at some gathering they become political morons. The latest being actress Meryl Streep speaking out at a  National Board of Review dinner blasting Walt Disney as a “gender bigot” and called him anti-semetic. She was showing her girlie crush on actress Helen Bonham Carter who portrayed the author of Mary Poppins, P.L. Travers, opposite Tom Hank’s Walt Disney in the latest movie ‘Saving Mr. Banks.” While I have heard various rumors to that effect and they are just that, rumors, she can’t compare how people thought over 50 years ago to now. I’ll let the comments below  that attacked her speak for themselves as I agree with them.

“Some of his associates reported that Walt Disney didn’t really like women,” Streep said, quoting esteemed animator Ward Kimball on his old boss: “He didn’t trust women or cats.”

Streep talked about how Disney “supported an anti-Semitic industry lobbying group” and called him a “gender bigot.” She read a letter that his company wrote in 1938 to an aspiring female animator. It included the line, “Women do not do any of the creative work in connection with preparing the cartoons for the screen, as that task is performed entirely by young men.”

Seriously… criticizing Disney for his opinions in the 30′s? Let’s follow that logic and look at almost any democrat’s racial opinions in the 1930′s.

Most Americans are a shadow of their Grandparents who fought and won World War II. Could you imagine the average American today, fighting the NAZI supermen [sic] of WWII? OMG, we would lose in under a year! 1.    Meryl Streep is one of the all-time greatest actresses of our time — perhaps any time, and all praise in that area is her due. Of course, now comes the BUT…

She had no trouble cashing all those hefty “Doubt” checks, or the ones from “Marvin’s Room,” in which she visited Disney World and was assuredly treated to complimentary luxury Disney hotel suites, gourmet food and no lines at rides. She has no trouble with all the money and perks attached to “Into the Woods” this year.



2. Ward Kimball’s account of Walt Disney, like any other bio or personal account, is subject to the views and perceptions of that person and the person writing the bio (and that person has a serious and public issue with the current Disney administration and has taken great pains to embarrass specific people by name, even if they were not directly responsible.



3. Ward Kimball was a loose cannon who often clashed with Walt Disney, yet Disney kept him at the studio because he did not always want people around who agreed with everything he said, he wanted to hear dissenting opinions like many other notable leaders. 



4. Ward Kimball is “reputed” to have started the “Walt is frozen” rumor as a gag.



5. Quoting an inappropriate comment from 50-80 years ago from a male, female or minority person of that period makes the assumption that the same person might feel that way today if he/she were alive today to defend himself/herself and perhaps make amends.



6. Comparing what someone said or did to the social mores of today is unfair and defies logic.



7. Meryl Streep gave a great performance making the speech. She was acting.



8. Emma Thompson can do things for Meryl Streep, Walt Disney is dead and cannot. Personal agenda? Too bad Ms. Streep felt is necessary to embarrass Ms. Thompson and the Guests, as well as the staff serving her at the event. 



Ms. Streep is still a great actress and I will continue to love her in movies and TV. Perhaps she should read a few more books about Walt Disney and related subjects in her luxurious trailer — or have her personal assistant read some for her and report out. 



Ms. Streep again is brilliant at interpreting a script but clearly not adequate at gathering information. 

But she hit every hot button and thus succeeded at getting press and attention.

Who is exploiting whom? ( I agree)……….  Recently a man in Indiana was pulled over by police for speeding and they discovered 48 small bombs in his car,2 pistols and 2 rifles and a detonator. They said he was headed towards a Navy seals training facility. We spend billions and billions on the NSA and a cop finds this guy for a few bucks of the taxpayer’s money. Our priorities are in the wrong place it seems. …….We are now 17 trillion dollars in debt with 9 trillion dollars in unfunded liabilities. Obama ha s spent more than all the presidents put together. Recently conservative talk show host Sean Hannity came up with a pretty good plan for conservative victory for America and get us back on the right track. On his show he outlined  7 points. They are:

1)    The Penny Plan where you cut one cent out of every dollar the government spends for six years and you have a balanced budget.

 2)    Have a balanced budget amendment   that controls spending.

 3)    Limit the amount of money the government takes from us.

 4)    Health care savings accounts that allow people to purchase healthcare insurance across state lines and at fair market prices.

 5)    Term limits with 6 years in congress and 12 years in the senate.

 6)    School choice

 7)    Secure America’s borders.

 Now if only congress will listen!!!!!!

Saving Mr.Banks-A Movie Review

 Saving Mr. Banks is the story of P.L.Travers (real name Helen Geoff) the woman who wrote Mary Poppins and the culmination of her 20 year negotiation with Walt Disney to bring it to the big screen.  Emma Thompson plays the dour and critical Travers who constantly criticizes and battles back and forth between the two song writers  and script writer and even Mr. Disney himself played  by Tom Hanks who try to make it into a musical with animated figures much to her adamant disagreement and disgust. She even objects to having Dick Van Dyke play the chimney sweep. Actor Paul Giamatti plays the uplifting, positive thinking limo driver for Mrs.Travers who has a handicapped daughter in a wheelchair he loves dearly. Mr. Banks refers to the head of the Banks household in Mary Poppins who Mary comes to be a nanny for.

The movie is actually two stories in one.  One told in constant flashbacks of the young Helen Geoff growing up in the backlands of rural Australia in the early 1900’s and the other of her negotiating and bickering with the songwriters and script writer and Walt Disney. She is the daughter of a failing bank manager (played by Colin Farrell) who has an active imagination who later becomes an alcoholic and eventually dies from influenza. At one time Helen’s mother can’t take this hard living anymore and attempts suicide by walking into a local lake. Helen manages to save her by running after her and pulling her out. When Helen’s mother brings in her sister from the neighboring city to help cure her husband that’s when the image of Mary Poppins appears to Helen as she is dressed in high button shoes, wide brim hat and carried the famous umbrella with the carved eagle head and a carpet bag full of potions.

The movie provides an interesting insight in the creation of the songs in the Mary Poppins  movie  such as “A spoonful of sugar”. Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious” and “Go Fly a Kite.” Helen keeps interrupting the song writers making changes and eventually gives in to the songs.

Walt makes a bet with his team that he can get her on a ride at Disneyland and does. He takes her on the carrousel there. Today Mary Poppins stands by the carrousel there.

Tom Hanks is very convincing as Walt Disney even looking and sounding like him. At the end credits they show actual pictures of Disney with her and you can see the remarkable resemblances they went thru to create these personalities and they play recently released rare recordings of Travers meeting with Disney executives which I’ve included below.  Of course as with any movie they take many liberties as to the real life situation which you can also read about below.

The real Helen Geoff died in1998 and age 93 and was so disgusted with what they did to her Mary Poppins that she forbade Disney from making any more movies of her character.
